Browsing the sub I noticed a lot of love for the edifier especially the MR4 and R1280T. They would fit my budget but I thought I'd ask before I pull the trigger. I'm also open to passive speakers if I can fit them in the budget with the amp. What would you all suggest?
Get the Philharmonic BMR and a Yamaha S301. That’ll put you at like $2100 after shipping, but that’s the best option if you can swing it. If not, I’m really happy with SVS stuff. A pair of SVS Prime Bookshelves for $600, a sub (SB-1000) for $500, and again the Yamaha S301.
If you can take your budget up to $199, take a look at the Audioengine A1. Audioengine has been in the "audiophile" computer desktop speaker game for a long time. I've had a pair of A2s for 10 years, easily, and they're fantastic.
