My favorite movies that fall into both the action and adventure categories (and are thus action-adventure) are: the Indiana Jones series (1981-2008 [with a new one currently being made]) - An archaeologist battles to prevent artifacts from falling into villainous hands.

You're out of your mind if you're ranking the top 50 action films of all time and you don't include Lethal Weapon, a single Rocky film or any Dirty Harry picture.
The Raid and The Raid 2 are what I would consider to be the best action movies of all time, especially the second. Hard-Boiled is also really good if you like Gun-Fu. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, A Touch of Zen, and Shadow are amazing Wuxia movies.
I have been on an adventure movie kick lately and have been struggling to pick a good one. I don’t know if it’s because I’m judging a book by it’s cover(title/description) or just that I’m not finding good suggestions so I came here to see what everyone’s favorite adventure movie is/was.
Redditors provided a variety of adventure movie recommendations, ranging from classic films like Romancing the Stone and Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World to more recent releases like Pirates of the Caribbean and The Adventures of Tintin.
The 98 (why stop two short of a hundred?) best action film of all time as written by a fifteen year old that doesn’t watch many movies made before 1990.
Best “action” movies of all time. When I look up top 10 lists, stuff like Iron Man, or the Matrix comes up. Comic book stuff and sci-fi stuff I don’t know if I would consider an “action movie”. The Gladiator is number three on one of these playlists. I’m thinking more Rambo first blood. Diehard I would consider an action movie.
