It tends to fragment pretty severely on impact, which also makes it a great choice due to its low overpenetration to avoid harming anyone else, but most 5.56 ammo is similar in this regard.

Their shorter OAL makes them a great candidate for a lightweight and compact defensive firearm, especially as a suppressor host. Short barrels chambered in 5.56 have one major… shortcoming.
