16 maj 2003 · I'm fine with benchmade's D2 but its a pretty average steel at the price point for EDC use. At a similar price point in my own experience spyderco's S30V, CTS XHP, and VG10 are better with CTS XHP being the best by a good bit. D2 just isn't corrosion resistant enough for my liking.

4 gru 2015 · Like anything else, the quality of a D2 steel knife depends on the maker/design. One of my all time favorite knives was the Benchmade Adamas (D2 steel). The factory edge was one of the best I've experienced at ANY price level. This knife just fell through paper effortlessly. Very impressive.

30 maj 2014 · 154CM is their basic steel and is a good all-around steel. s30v has better edge retention, and D2 is even better than s30v. Difficulty sharpening also increases, though, so keep that in mind.
The most consistently solid D2 I know of in large scale production right now is Benchmade D2 (ht by Stack Metallurgical Services, per BM protocols), with next best probably being Ontario.
18 lis 2024 · The blade on the 710 is manufactured from D2 steel (fairly rare these days) which is a high carbon, high chromium air-hardened tool steel that is superb at resisting wear. It's considered a semi-stainless steel but provides good resistance to corrosion and can be hardened extremely well.
