Ben Ray Luján (/ luːˈhɑːn / loo-HAHN; [ 2 ] born June 7, 1972) is an American politician who has served as the junior United States senator from New Mexico since 2021. He served as the U.S. representative for New Mexico's 3rd congressional district from 2009 to 2021 and as Assistant Speaker [ a ] from 2019 to 2021.
Luján was married to Carmen Ray, and the couple had four children, including Ben Ray Luján. Luján died of cancer in 2012, aged 77. [6]
