KMR series handguards (KMR, MCMR, QRF) are a free-floated design which mounts and aligns to the upper-receiver threads using a custom barrel nut. Use ONLY parts labeled as compatible with the mounting system of your particular handguard.
From the ones I’ve removed: The handguard is tight on the barrel nut even after removing the clamping bolts. You’re going to have to heat it up and tap it off with a wood block and light mallet/hammer. You won’t be able to just pull it off easy by hand - like you said, they’re a tight fit.
