The BSN program is designed for students who enter the Nursing program with no prior nursing knowledge, experience, or skills. Following the prerequisite courses, completion of this program requires 5 semesters of full-time study.

The pre-licensure nursing program at CSULB has been impacted since 1973 with many more applicants than can be accepted.
Students who apply as first time freshman and are admitted will be declared as “Pre-Nursing” majors. This does not guarantee admission to the BSN nursing program. Once enrolled, Pre-Nursing majors will work with their academic advisor to complete the required prerequisite coursework and apply to the School of Nursing.
