Mitch Thompson was selected as the 20th head baseball coach in program history on June 15, 2022. After nine seasons as the head coach of McLennan Community College and a previous 18-year stint as an assistant at Baylor, Thompson brings more than 30 years of coaching experience into his second season as Baylor head coach in 2024.

Snedeker, a 31-year coaching veteran, brings 18 years of experience as a collegiate pitching coach to Waco after spending the last seven seasons at Lamar.
Mitch Thompson is a baseball coach and former player, who is the current head baseball coach of the Baylor Bears. He played college baseball at Cloud County Community College in 1984, transferring to Bacone College in 1985, before ultimately transferring to Fort Hays State where he played from 1986 to 1988.
Returning home to his “dream job,” Mitch Thompson, one of the most highly respected coaches and recruiters in college baseball, was selected as Baylor’s 20th head baseball coach, announced June 15. A former Baylor assistant for nearly two decades, Thompson helped lead the Bears during the most prolific stretch in program history from 1995 to 2012.
