We discuss signs and symptoms, differential diagnoses, potential mechanisms of injury, management, and review of the literature related to bath salt toxicity.

Together, these symptoms are part of the sympathomimetic toxic syndrome (or toxidrome) ( table 1 ). Adrenergic receptors are reviewed separately.
Case report: Our case series involved five patients (six hospital courses) who presented after ingesting bath salts. The presentations involved signs and symptoms of intense sympathetic response. All patients had a history of drug abuse, and most had psychiatric disorders as well.

1 wrz 2013 · Patients with bath salts overdose can present with signs of extreme sympathetic stimulation including tachycardia, hypertension, and hyperthermia as outlined in Table 3 (2). These drugs are stimulants and work through pathways similar to amphetamines.
We report a case of recurrent acute kidney injury associated with repeated bath salts intoxication. The patient, who presented with neurologic and cardiovascular symptoms and signs, also developed rhabdomyolysis, hyperuricemia, and metabolic acidosis as part of the clinical presentation.
