17 sty 2017 · 4 piece rods are better for traveling on major airlines and for the charter flight to camp. They may actually fit inside your duffel bag. 3 piece rods are OK. We don’t recommend 2 piece rods for travel ease.
22 lis 2022 · Gear Guide for Fly Fishing Alaska: Fly Rods: While swinging for steelhead and ‘bows in strong current, I found a two-handed rod, say 11’-11’6” or so, to be ideal. Coho salmon, on the other hand, seemed to gravitate towards slower pockets of water where a 9’6” 6wt did the trick.
3 maj 2023 · Now that you’ve got your clothes laid out, we should discuss what you should bring for fly rods. Depending on which species you plan to target your rod will vary. Rainbow Trout, Char, and Grayling: 6 to 7 weight rod that’s fast enough to deliver a large fly in windy conditions.
I’ll be working in the Kenai Peninsula for 12 weeks and will be flying with Alaska Airlines. I’ve heard mixed things about traveling with rods. I have three rods I’m bringing, and they all break down at the rod saves that are approximately 3.5 feet in length.
7 kwi 2023 · Last Easter’22, I flew to Hawaii from San Francisco round trip on Alaska Air, I was allowed to carry on my rod tube (4”D, 50”L, 3 fly rods). It counted as my personal item and I was still allowed a carry-on suitcase.
