Maps are found in easy, medium, and hard clue scrolls. When completing a hard map clue there is a chance that a Saradomin wizard, or Zamorak wizard if in the Wilderness, will appear and attack the player. The wizard must be defeated to continue the clue.

Basilisks can be assigned as a Slayer task at level 40 Slayer, level 40 combat, and level 20 Defence by medium-level Slayer Masters. In order for higher-levelled masters to assign them, the player must pay 80 points for the Basilocked perk.
