Food Service Sanitation Certificates. All food establishments shall employ and have present on the premises at all times that time/temperature control for safety food (TCS) is being prepared, held for service, or served, a Person In Charge (PIC) who holds a Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) food service sanitation certificate.
This certificate of training is required by the Illinois (& Chicago) Department of Public Health for any staff with food or utensil contact. The two hour training covers basic food safety and ends with an open book quiz. The certification must be repeated every three years.
The ServSafe Food Handler program is comprehensive and provides training on the following Intended Learning Outcomes: Basic Food Safety, Personal Hygiene, Cross-Contamination and Allergens, Time & Temperature, & Cleaning and Sanitation.
The Food Handler Training course will cover basic food safety issues, regulations, and techniques needed to maintain a food-safe environment. It will help the learner better understand how handling food correctly is not only the law, but it improves safety and reduces risks.
