Timing a large race is actually not very complicated, but it will sound complicated as I try to explain it. The file is not hooked up to a big clock; it features nothing fancy like that. The way that the template works to record times is simple: when you click the button to run the macro Start_Timer, the current time is recorded/saved into Cell B2.

I use a pretty basic excel template, currently set up with the 18/55 plan: Marathon Training Plan. I update columns J, K, and M (Distance, Time, HR) as I complete the scheduled runs. The second tab has a Daniels pace calculator that I really like.
I downloaded our race lap data into Excel from Race Monitor and want to play around with averages, and other misc BS. However, when I try to do this Excel doesn't understand how to perform calculations (averages, sums, etc) based on the lap time format.
