The opening ceremony of the 1992 Summer Olympics took place on the evening of Saturday 25 July 1992 at Estadi Olímpic de Montjuïc, Barcelona, Spain, during which the Games were formally opened by King Juan Carlos I.
The arrow never landed inside that bowl. It went straight over as intended. They ignited the flame automatically. You can even see the arrow on the bottom when to camera starts zooming in on the bowl. There is a YouTube video explaining it.
