I am the new owner of a Gaggia classic, and I was unable to grind fine enough with my Maestro Plus. I contacted Baratza to ask which grinder to move to, and was recommended to just replace my gear set with the GB2.0 pack and a set of Virtuoso burrs.
The Maestro is a great grinder and was the gold standard for a long time. and should work great. The Encore is better however as it grinds fine enough to introduce you to espresso, and is a little more consistent.
I recently upgraded from a cheap cuisinart burr grinder to a Baratza Virtuoso but I was surprised that the virtuoso is just about as loud as my old burr grinder, when I had heard that the virtuoso was quieter than the encore.
