The bandit is a pretty basic, entry level hobby grade. Cheap and not too difficult to work on. It comes with a manual and some spare odds and ends. Read the manual. If you take it apart and get lost, there is an exploded view of the car in said manual to help you out.

The TQ radio seems like something i could use for two or three vehicles, for a year or two, and the Velineon system seems like a good introduction to LiPo and brushless.
No. First off, the Traxxas Velinion brushless system is kinda known for reliability issues. Secondly, the Velinion system is way too much power for a 2WD buggy like that. The car will be very difficult to control. Finally, there's better chassis out there. Performance-wise the Bandit is a very outdated design even by outdated design standards.

The B4 is more upgradeable, more adjustable, handles better. The bandit is more durable and the VXL bandit will be very fast (stock) with a 3-cell LiPo battery.

16 gru 2009 · Electric Off-Road - Traxxas Bandit Opinions - I know it isn't as competitive as say an RB5 or B4, but I would really like a 2wd buggy, especially one that is "semi-durable". Anyone owned or driven one of these?
The Traxxas Bandit looks so aggressive and fast and this what I like most about this RC car. Its 1/10 scale body allows it to be sporty and helps it go faster! Therefore, the spoiler is so cool as well as those big bumpers appearing from the sides of the car.
