Most of those examples given are not traced but rather referenced. What I understood from your post is that it's bad to re-draw/re-create a scene ( hah, i'm reminded of this screencap redraw meme in tumblr). That's like saying that doujin and fan artists who draw very close to the original are bad!

For all these years I've been unaware that this old drawing of mine has since become meme and no one has known who created it all this time until now.

Clearly as you can see that didn't turn out well 😂 it was posted in 2017 by someone who went to school with me and since became the meme that many in the anime/art community seem to recognise. I'm pretty sure there is a couple more of my old bad naruto character drawings on the internet (one is Naruto and the other was Rock Lee).
