23 lut 2011 · I see that avast have release version 6. That was quick I will say. So my question is can I update through GUI or a clean install is preferable since version 6 includes new stuff? Using avast free 5.1.899
26 kwi 2011 · You can either do it via the Avast GUI and click “update” or do a clean install. If you do a clean install, make sure you use the Avast Uninstaller Tool http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear6.exe and reboot after prior to installing the new version.
7 cze 2011 · I installed Avast 6 Free and am having an issue with updating. When I try to manually check for updates through the GUI, it just hangs at “Initializing, please wait…” every time.

12 kwi 2011 · You can either wait until release, or download from the link I posted and run the installer - no uninstalling of 6.0.1044 needed. 6.0.1044 is very stable, you can use it safely. But why I can’t update my Build 6.0.1000 into newer version like builds (6.0.1021, 6.0.1027, 6.0.1035)?

25 lut 2011 · Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You may need to reboot after the repair. This has in the past resolved this out of sync issue between reported and actual VPS version.
