25 lip 2012 · I can connect my tv to my macbook pro through a HDMI cable and the picture shows up perfectly. However, the sound goes through my laptop speakers and not through the tv. When I go into Preferences --> sound --> output, there is not option to select for the hdmi, just the internal speakers.

Make sure your TV isn't setup to expect audio from it's Stereo input jacks, as if you were connecting via component video and audio. Light up the menu options on your TV, and just double check your Audio options settings.
6 kwi 2014 · I have linked a cable from my MacBook Air to my TV via HDMI but cannot get volume on the TV. I have gone into preferences-sound but their is no facility to change 'internal speakers'. How can I do this?
On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Sound in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.) Open Sound settings for me. Click Output, then select the device you want to use in the list of sound output devices.
