The most important representation of Attis is the lifesize statue discovered at Ostia Antica, near the mouth of Rome's river. The statue is of a reclining Attis, after the emasculation. In his left hand is a shepherd's crook, in his right hand a pomegranate.

A statue of him stands at the Shrine of Attis on the Campus of the Magna Mater in Ostia Antica, Italy. Another statue which was at the mouth of Rome’s river, now resides in the Vatican museum. It depicts Attis reclining post-castration holding a shepherd’s crook in his left hand and a pomegranate in his right.

The Sanctuary of Attis or Attideum is situated to the east of the Field of the Magna Mater. It is preceded by a fairly large area (c. 9.90 x 11.10) without a roof, surrounded by a wall (opus reticulatum from the Julio-Claudian period). The open area was entered from the west.
