Helium-3 and protium (ordinary hydrogen) are the only stable nuclides with more protons than neutrons. It was discovered in 1939. Helium-3 occurs as a primordial nuclide, escaping from Earth's crust into its atmosphere and into outer space over millions of years.
10 paź 2023 · Helium consists of two isotopes: 3 He (natural abundance = 0.000134%) and 4 He (natural abundance = 99.999866%). Their atomic masses are 3.01603 and 4.00260, respectively. Helium-3 has unique physical properties and is used in the study of ultralow temperatures. It is separated from the more abundant 4 He by a process of gaseous effusion.
30 sty 2023 · An early model of the atom was developed in 1913 by Danish scientist Niels Bohr (1885–1962). The Bohr model shows the atom as a central nucleus containing protons and neutrons with the electrons in circular orbitals at specific distances from the nucleus (Figure \(\PageIndex{1}\)).

30 cze 2023 · Helium protects the heated parts of metals such as aluminum and titanium from air. Mixtures of helium and oxygen are used in tanks for underwater breathing devices: due to its low density, helium gas allows oxygen to stream easily through the lungs.
16 lip 2020 · Learn about the Bohr model of the atom. See the main points of the model, how to calculate absorbed or emitted energy, and why the model is important.
