Also you can try for the Broadway In Chicago lottery for Harry Potter tickets for $40. I did a few weeks ago & had $189 seats for $40.

There are hundreds of hotels in Chicago. There is no "best", only what may be best-suited for you and in your price range. What are you planning to do while you are here? Any budgetary limits? The St. Regis, tho a great location and a brand-spanking-new hotel, will be pricy.

I cannot think of any other hotel with similar historic charm and a good location that will suit your needs as well, unless you are prepared to pay a higher room rate. If so, you could look at the Chicago Athletic Hotel and the London House, both of which are a few blocks south of the Intercontinental on the other side of the river.
