If you are already covered by other health insurance, such as through an employer, your parents coverage, Covered California, or Medi-Cal, you can submit a waiver application to waive your enrollment in UC SHIP, and not be charged the UC SHIP Fee each term. A new waiver application must be submitted prior to the start of each new academic year.

When you submit a waiver application, we contact your health insurance company to verify that you are actively enrolled. You will receive a quick response to your application. If your waiver is approved, you must maintain active enrollment in your health insurance plan for the entire academic year.
