I recently bought it for PC because I was running into lag issues with some of my larger builds. There seems to be a consensus that keyboard/mouse is the best way to play, but after playing a couple weeks with a keyboard/mouse, here is what I've found.

We tested a lot of hardware (thanks so much Q/A team <3) to ensure that you can remap lots of actions to any mouse button or any keyboard input. The team also tested these changes with the Xbox Adaptive controller which should work great on Xbox and PC.
I play it with the Steam Controller while in bed. I use the right trackpad as a mouse and the rest is standard controller buttons. The left track pack I use for waving and scroll wheels to zoom in. Best of both worlds.
The controller can be used for all games that allow user definable keys. I have used it for Astroneer, but not since December (the last time I played the game), so I cannot confirm that it is still a viable option given all of the extra left/right click key strokes required that the game now uses.
24 mar 2022 · The Controls Update sees the return of the EXO Salvage Initiative and fun new cosmetic rewards. By popular demand, this update also brings with it the option for console players to use mouse & keyboard controls as well as remap inputs via the new Controller Settings tab!
17 gru 2016 · Hi, I tried playing with a controller and found it a bit challenging, tried checking the controls but they only specify for mouse/keyboard. Did I miss something? If anyone could give me details about the controls on a controller I would sppreciate it :)
