The initial certification period for an ASEP is five years. You may then renew for an additional five years, an unlimited number of times. In order to maintain your certification, you must remain an individual INCOSE member and you must also earn and document continuing education.
Starting August 2023, exam content is only the overlap of SEH Fourth Edition and SEH Fifth Edition. Hybrid testing (on only the overlapping content) will continue through at least December 2024. All questions on the exam are multiple choice with a single correct answer. Most people who pass the exam have read through the handbook more than once.
The program was expanded to multiple levels of certification in 2008. Now the INCOSE Certification Program has an entry level “Associate Systems Engineering Professional” (ASEP) for those who do not yet have the requisite years of SE experience. The ASEP requires and uses the same exam as CSEP.

In order to gain ASEP or CSEP accreditation it is necessary for INCOSE UK members to pass the certification knowledge examination.
When you are ready to book an examination, you can start the process to apply for ASEP or CSEP. Following submission and payment of the application fee for ASEP or CSEP via the INCOSE UK website, applicants will be forwarded a unique link to enable them to book the examination directly with Examity, our online exam provider.
The time allowed to complete CSEP is one year from the application date including both the exam and the review. Once achieved CSEP is valid for 3 years. Application and payment can be made directly through the INCOSE UK website.
The ASEP Board of Certification of the American Society of Exercise Physiologists is responsible for preparing the EPC Examination and overseeing the grading. Candidates preparing to take the examination can be aided by knowing its purpose and general objectives.
