28 maj 2024 · The anterior cerebral artery (ACA), along with the middle cerebral artery (MCA) forms at the termination of the internal carotid artery (ICA). It is the smaller of the two and arches anteromedially to pass anterior to the genu of the corpus callosum, dividing as it does so into its two major branches: the pericallosal and callosomarginal arteries.

The anterior cerebral artery (a. cerebri anterior) arises from the internal carotid, at the medial extremity of the lateral cerebral fissure. It passes forward and medialward across the anterior perforated substance, above the optic nerve, to the commencement of the longitudinal fissure.
