Throughout session, teens gain a valuable civic education while honing skills in public speaking, research, and debate. Our delegates learn about the variety of views and issues around Washington State as they discuss solutions and alternatives to problems facing their own communities.
Teens develop confidence, hone skills in writing, research and public speaking, and better understand their power as citizens in a democratic society. More than 400 youth from Washington participate in the conference each year! This program is open to students in grades 8-12.

Since 1936, YMCA Youth and Government has offered students across the country the opportunity to serve their schools, communities, states and nation through model government, civic engagement, advocacy, leadership and character development, service-learning, and other opportunities to amplify youth voice and strengthen youth civic health.
Youth & Government gives teens, grades 8-12, the opportunity to be a part of one of the oldest YMCA non-partisan, civic engagement programs in the country. What began in 1947 is now one of the highly rated civic engagement programs in Washington State.
