The easiest way to tame a Phoenix without trapping it is to use an already tamed Phoenix, taking advantage of it's burning bite attack. This, combined with using rare flowers, allows the survivor to hover in one spot in the air while quickly taming the wild phoenix.
Wild Phoenix taming is easier and won't lose taming progress for at least 3 minutes of not attacking. Wild Phoenix enflamed fire debuff now only lasts 3 seconds on players. Wild Phoenix can now be found outside of heatwaves.

26 cze 2022 · One of the most efficient ways to tame a Phoenix is to bring a Fire Wyvern into the trap so that you can use its fire breath to tame the Phoenix. Once the Fire Wyvern has been brought into the trap, wait for the Phoenix to rise up and start breathing fire on it.

30 kwi 2020 · When you find the Phoenix follow it around till the heatwave ends. You can build a taming box around the ashes and when it wakes up it'll be an easy tame. Flamethrower seems to work better than flame arrows and I'm assuming the fire wyvern works best of all but I haven't tried it with mine yet.
