Basically, the relationship between man and dog is analogous to the relationship between you and the bacteria living in your gut. At least, for some people who like dogs.
I've read somewhere I don't recall, so take it with a grain of salt, that brain scans show elephants reacting to humans as we do to puppies. And also that cats think we are cats, but not very good at it, which is why they gift us kills or live animals so that we can learn to eat and hunt as they do.
Cats and dogs are territorial (which is greedy considering they don’t need hunting territory being domesticated animals). They will terrorize other animals for invading their territory (spiteful). They would absolutely do the same things humans do if they could.
The first humans to domesticate dogs and cats: If not friend, why friend shaped?
TIL Humans and dogs are the only two species known to seek visual cues from another individual's eyes, and dogs only do this when interacting with humans. Lot of people calling bullshit on this. Saw a great documentary years ago about the relationship that has evolved between people and dogs.
Yes humans are animals, and yes humans are not inherently overall better than other animals. However, we are different from other animals because we are the only species that has sentience.
The actual title is "Are you guys cat people, dog people, or both and why?" This isn't a debate type thing, I just want to generally know why you like one or the other. I was a cat person when I was a child but slowly came to love dogs then eventually became one to love both.
