Gen 2. The gen 4 is a pos since you will strip the set screw and find yourself driving to a fastenal to replace it. It doesn't hold timing well either. As mentioned earlier, go with the hogue and the kingpin. This is by far the superior setup.
The difference is how adjustable they are. In the Gen 2, the thing is held together by a screw opposite the maglock itself, on that plate thing right under the bolt catch. The way it's designed, you have to fit it snugly or not at all.
I've used the Hogue FF and the Gen 2 ARM. The Hogue needed a lot more fitting (filing the nub to get it to operate with the bolt back) and the ARMGen2 needed judicious timing so the finger went in. If you're comfortable with drilling and tapping, the Hogue keeps it looking "freedom".

Which AR Maglock kit is best for me? It depends on what you want to do and how fast you want to change magazines. The fastest is the Gen 2 or Gen 4 coupled with the Kingpin. This combination gives you the closest experience to a standard magazine release with all the benefits of firearm manipulation and malfunction clearing.
