what makes that combo better than the rest that are just installations? You can (slowly! check after every few passes) file the pin down until it allows the halves to separate while the bolt is held back, which is the main feature that armaglock brags about. Drilling is easy.
To install this, you need a few tools starting with a drill, a clamp, a 5/64" Allen wrench, a 8/32 tap, and cutting fluid like WD40. I would also highly recommend a vise to hold it all together. The drilling went relatively well but there's room for error depending on your lower receiver's tolerances.
The difference is how adjustable they are. In the Gen 2, the thing is held together by a screw opposite the maglock itself, on that plate thing right under the bolt catch. The way it's designed, you have to fit it snugly or not at all.
Which AR Maglock kit is best for me? It depends on what you want to do and how fast you want to change magazines. The fastest is the Gen 2 or Gen 4 coupled with the Kingpin. This combination gives you the closest experience to a standard magazine release with all the benefits of firearm manipulation and malfunction clearing.
