AQUASCO SPEEDWAY - ALL AQUASCO-related material is welcome here. This page is a celebration of a great drag strip. In operation for a short 22 years, Aquasco hosted the best and fastest racers from all over the USA.
30 cze 2010 · Aquasco Speedway was a pioneering track in the east. Developed by Alfonso and Albert Procopio in the mid 1950’s it was intended for it to be a purpose built strip for quarter mile racing and the first of its kind in the area. The track was located just minutes south of Washington, D.C.
These slides are from a 35mm slide tray that was labeled AQUASCO 1965-66. It contains a number of great shots. There is George Reese's Prefect, a match race between K.S. Pittman and Dick Landy, some great local cars. Also Pete's Chevy Impala station wagon.
4 lut 2011 · But Aquasco was in fact the original site of the storied event, featuring top fuelers, gassers, and stock class racers from around the country. In the late 70’s, the track was leased to a couple of gentleman, Tod Mack and Larry Clayton.
23 lut 2009 · I was down at the race track a couple of months ago and I met the new owner. He let me take some pictures and says he has no plans to really do anything with the property. I have attached a few pictures of what the race track looks like today and will be adding additional pictures from the early '60s. Enjoy! Mike.

It was a little bit before my time but it seemed to be the spot back in the day. Pretty cool that it has sat unmolested. Aquasco Speedway.
