Aquasco Speedway, no longer in operation, was the first quarter-mile dragstrip on the United States East Coast. It was built in the mid-1950s and was home to the President's Cup Nationals, which are now held at Maryland International Raceway.
22 lis 2009 · San Antonio Raceway is a new track on I-10 between San Antonio & Seguin. Martindale Air Base was the first dragstrip in SA in the early 50's. Still an active military runway but hasn't been a dragstrip since the late 50's when Double Eagle Dragway opened in the late 50's just north of Martindale.

This two hour and twenty-seven minute original movie production traces the history of Aquasco Speedway, Capitol Raceway and Cecil County Dragway. The story is told by Julio Marra who is the son-in-law of Mr. Al Procopio principal owner of Aquasco Speedway.
30 cze 2010 · Aquasco Speedway was a pioneering track in the east. Developed by Alfonso and Albert Procopio in the mid 1950’s it was intended for it to be a purpose built strip for quarter mile racing and the first of its kind in the area.
