17 kwi 2010 · Try to insert a sheet of thick paper around the button to remove dust, dirt or a grain of sand that can be stuck there. You can't access the button from under the top case so if the paper manipulation don't work you'll have to replace the upper case assembly.
21 sie 2020 · Perhaps the battery is beginning to swell and is pressing against the Trackpad which is preventing proper movement. If the battery is swelling, then you should stop using the laptop and get it serviced as it can severely deform the laptop's case increasing the cost of the repair.

The second most common cause is damage to the motherboard, namely liquid ingress. It's better if it's water, and worse if it's coffee, cola, or whiskey.
