15 wrz 2022 · Example of an LV apical mural (laminar) thrombus (red arrows) seen on gadolinium-enhanced CMR. Note the adjacent white appearing areas indicating infarcted myocardium. CMR indicates cardiac magnetic resonance; and LV, left ventricular.

Introduction. The advent of reperfusion therapy and the widespread use of primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) have markedly reduced the incidence of post–myocardial infarction (MI) left ventricular thrombus (LVT) over the last decades (1–3).
Current treatment strategies for LV thrombus, including direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC) use, are also unclear and require examination . We identified patients with LV thrombus on echocardiography (with and without contrast) at Brigham and Women’s Hospital between January 2008 and May 2015.
23 wrz 2022 · This AHA scientific statement was commissioned with the goals of addressing eight key clinical management questions related to LV thrombus, including the prevention and treatment after myocardial infarction (MI), prevention and treatment in dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), management of mural (laminated) thrombus, imaging of LV thrombus, DOACs as ...
We have also identified nearly a third of patients with LVT are now treated with a direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC). The question of whether DOACs are an equally safe and efficacious treatment as compared to VKA remains to be answered. A multi-centre UK based RCT funding application is underway. The management of patients with left ventricular mural thrombus after AMI is challenging because insufficient evidence is available from randomized trials. • In patients with or at high risk of developing LV thrombus, serial imaging may identify features warranting more intensive or prolonged antithrombotic therapy to reduce the risk of embolism.
7 kwi 2020 · Results: The authors identified 159 patients with confirmed LV thrombus. These patients were treated with vitamin K antagonists (48.4%), parenteral heparin (27.7%), or direct oral anticoagulants (22.6%). Antiplatelet therapy was used in 67.9% of cases.
