The anterior tibial veins (vv. tibiales anteriores) are the upward continuation of the venæ comitantes of the dorsalis pedis vein. They leave the front of the leg by passing between the tibia and fibula, over the interosseous membrane, and unite with the posterior tibial, to form the popliteal vein.
The anterior tibial vein is a blood vessel that drains oxygen-depleted blood from the front part of the lower leg to the popliteal vein located behind the knee. It runs alongside the anterior tibial artery in the lower leg.
