Zoo and Wild Animals Rebuilt is really cool. Used to have an issue where fish animals spawned WAY too much. Like to the point there was more fish than water. I think they've fixed it but if they haven't it's pretty easy to disable them in the config.
Pokecube adds an awful lot of tameable, somewhat hostile "Animals" to the game, the default configs disable vanilla animal spawning, but that can be re-enabled. It can also be configured for whatever density of its mobs you want.
