7 kwi 2022 · According to oral tradition, it was Lava (son of Rama, an incarnation of Vishnu and the protagonist of one of Hinduism’s great epics, The Ramayana), who founded Lahore, once called Lavapuri (the city of Lava), and his twin brother, Kush, who founded its twin city, known today as Kasur.
Education took place at early Hindu and Buddhist centers of learning such as ancient Takshashila (in modern-day Pakistan), Nalanda (in India), Mithila (in India and Nepal), Vikramshila, Telhara and Shaunaka Mahashala in the Naimisharanya forest.
Many historians agree that Lahore was founded by an ancient Hindu colony sometime between the first and seventh centuries, probably as early as the beginning of the second; that it soon rose to be a place of importance, the parent of other colonies, and eventually the capital of a powerful principality, to which it gave its name.
The origin of Lahore can be traced back somewhere between 1st and 7th centuries A.D. It is, however, inferred by historians that Lahore was actually founded by Loh e son of Rama, characterized as the Hindu god in Ramayana.
The legend narrates that Lahore was founded by Hindu Prince, Loh, son of Rama and the hero of the Hindu epic, the Ramayana (Peck, 2015). Its evidence is the subterranean Temple located in northern part of Lahore Fort, and memoir of its ancient past credited to Rama (figure 3).

28 kwi 2022 · Ancient Hindu sources say the word Lahore connects to Loh the son of Ramchandra the hero of the famous Hindu epic Ramanyana. It would be interesting to note that a small temple attributed to Loh still exists near the western extremities of the present brick fort in the northern western side of the old city of Lahore.
