If you’re set on doing magic with slayer. Just buy the bis mage gear you can. Probably mystics, seers rang (might not be in your budget), unholy book (horror from the deep quest), mage’s cape, etc. then just use the highest level spell you can and hope you get tasks weak to magic.

I've seen a bunch of suggestions to bring blood and ice spells into ToA in addition to trident, but after a couple runs the only clear place I see to use them is in Ba Ba's puzzle room. That hardly seems worth the slot on it's own.
