Motor Current Rating Chart for Full Load Amps The information in this chart was derived from Table 50.1 of UL standard 508A. The voltages listed are rated motor voltages. The currents listed shall be permitted for system voltage ranges of 110-120, 220-240, 380-415, 440-480 and 550-600 volts.

To determine the correct current transformer rating, multiply the full load amperes by a factor of 1.25. This places the full load current above 2/3 full scale on the CT, while allowing sufficient head room to also read overload conditions. Example: Horsepower = 200, Voltage = 230 Chart value of 480A multiplied by 1.25 = 600A.

HP to Amps Conversion Chart: Below table is calculated amps value for the respective standard motor horsepower rating. The table first column indicates the DC current and followed by the AC current. AC current is calculated by the power factor of 0.86 for single-phase supply and 0.8 for three-phase supply.
Enter amps, volts, and motor efficiency to calculate the horsepower. The conversion from amps, a measure of electric current, to horsepower, a measure of power output by a motor, can be done using a fairly simple formula. P (HP) = I (A) × V (V) × η × PF 746.
The information in this chart was derived from Table 430-148 & 430-150 of the NEC and Table 50.1 of UL standard 508A. The voltages listed are rated motor voltages. The currents listed shall be permitted for system voltage ranges of 110-120, 220-240, 380-415, 440-480 and 550-600 volts.
