Breathings can be transformed for a random at the Mugen Train which costs 300 Souls. Breathings can be upgraded by using the Breathing Upgrader at the Mugen Train. Breathings can be dropped by Killing the Boss or fighting the enemies in the Mugen Train. To Upgrade a Breathing you need 4 of the specific breathing you want to upgrade.

Use Soul Remains. It’s a life saver. There’s also a way to cheese the second reaper (which clears 95% of the area) with a soul remains tossed over the side of the bridge before the first laser guy).
After Bloodborne, DS3, and Sekiro, I found Demon Souls to be very easy by comparison (along with Elden Ring). However, NG+ on Demon Souls is absolutely insane. I couldn't believe how much harder it was.
