The HIV epidemic has an overall decreasing trend in country with estimated annual New HIV infections declining by 37% between 2010 and 2019.
As per latest estimates of the National AIDS Control Organisation, there are 2.12 million persons infected with HIV in India (NACO 2012). There is a steady decline in the number of PLHIV in India since the 2.23 million figure reported in 2007.
