3 lip 2023 · These are powerful competitive bidding tools because they allow us to take away some of the opponents’ valuable bidding space, preempt the auction, and show partner both of our two 5+card suits with one call. Let’s see how to make use of this convention to show our 2-suited overcalls.
There are many artificial systems for competing over the opponent’s 1NT opening bid. Systems like DONT or Meckwell are built around finding a fit and competing in the bidding as efficiently as possible – allowing us to show all our suits at the 2-level.
For best results from the auction we want the Captain to be the member of the partnership that has the most information about the two combined hands. We do not want someone that knows little about their partner’s hand to be making final decisions that require lots of information. The decision maker should be the most informed player!

Here we rebid 2 , showing our minimum values and good 5-card suit. This bid is non-forcing. With this hand we could rebid 2 , but with a minimum hand, good , and poor , 2 is a better choice. Partner can rebid 2 on the next round if they have a good hand and a 4-card suit.
