4 lip 2024 · Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM), as the name would suggest, is featured by a monophasic acute inflammation and demyelination of white matter typically following a recent (1-2 weeks prior) viral infection or vaccination 4,6.
Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) a monophasic autoimmune demyelinating disease of the central nervous system that occurs after a febrile infection or vaccination. Typically, ADEM manifests as multifocal high T2WI/ FLAIR signal lesions mimicking multiple sclerosis (MS).
This case demonstrates typical imaging features of ADEM, which although characterized as a monophasic illness, individual lesions are not all at the same stage of evolution, thus some small or inapparent lesions early on can be seen to appear and mature even while other lesions regress.
8 cze 2022 · Background: Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) is a rare demyelinating disorder that is often misdiagnosed. To improve early diagnosis, we performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of clinical features, outcomes for ADEM in adults.
Objawy kliniczne ADEM zaczynają się najczęściej ostrym wzrostem ciepłoty ciała, bólami głowy, wymiotami, podrażnieniem opon mózgowo-rdzeniowych. Rozwija się senność lub nawet mniej bądź bardziej głęboka śpiączka, drgawki oraz występują ogniskowe objawy neurologiczne: niedowłady, zaburzenia mowy różnego typu, zespoły pozapiramidowe.
23 cze 2024 · Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis (ADEM) is an immune-mediated inflammatory disorder of the central nervous system, typically following a viral infection or vaccination. It is characterised by widespread demyelination, primarily affecting the white matter of the brain and spinal cord.
8 maj 2018 · Appearance of new lesions at MRI suggests the diagnosis of multiphasic ADEM or multiple sclerosis (MS). Diagnosis of acute disseminated encephalomyelitis is based on clinical and radiological features because there is no specific biological marker or confirmatory test.
