I recently started using prime again via browser (edge +chrome) and I began noticing micro stutters during viewing, like a small pause then continuing, like very fast but noticeable, enough to annoy me.

Assuming you already have your Fire TV Stick up and running, the only thing left to do is to head to Settings -> System -> Developer options and enable both ADB Debugging and Apps from Unknown Sources, both of which are necessary to install and run Kodi.
adbFire is a companion program for FireTV XBMC, (Gotham and later only). It allows you to sideload XBMC and other apps without the hassle of downloading the Android SDK and other tools. Additionally, it allows you to copy files to and from XBMC, backup and restore XBMC's data, root the FireTV and more.
A quick google search indicates: the only way to root the Fire TV Stick is to directly manipulate the file system by soldering leads to the 8GB storage chip. This method requires precise soldering skills, so is therefore not recommended and has not been thoroughly tested.
On S7+ I had Amazon Prime (Ring of Power) stuttering issues. Show would not download either, then eventually app would just crash shortly after opening. I updated Android to latest available version today (23rd Nov 22) reinstalled Prime and it appears to work again.
