Adam's Peak is a 2,243 m (7,359 ft) tall conical sacred mountain located in central Sri Lanka. [1] [2] It is well known for the Sri Pada (Śrī Pāda ; Sinhala: ශ්රී පාද, 'sacred footprint'), a 1.8 m (5 ft 11 in) rock formation near the summit whose name is also used for the mountain itself.
This footprint, measuring 5’7” by 2’6” is believed to be the footprint of the Prophet Adam (upon him be peace) who was said to be 60 cubits tall. It is located on the top of a mountain in Sri Lanka called Adam’s Peak (also known as Sri Pada – the Holy Footprint).

As the first rays of dawn light up sacred mountain (2243m) you're treated to an extremely fine view: the hill country rises to the east; in the west the land slopes away to the sea; Colombo at sea level, 65km away, is easily visible on a clear day.
15 lis 2019 · The Sacred Footprint. On the summit of Adam’s Peak is located a shrine, a belfry and a resting place. The center of the attraction is a stone tablet covering the sacred footprint of Lord Buddha. Most pilgrims attempt the climb solely for the purpose of paying homage to the shrine.
