Experimenting with acids and bases can make for exciting chemistry projects! Acidic solutions have a higher concentration of hydrogen ions (H+). These are hydrogen atoms that have lost an electron and now have just a proton, giving them a positive electrical charge. Basic solutions, on the other hand, contain hydroxide ions (OH-).
Acidic and alkaline are two opposite ends of the pH scale, with acidic substances having a pH below 7 and alkaline substances having a pH above 7. Acidic substances are typically sour in taste and can be corrosive, while alkaline substances are often bitter and can be caustic.

30 wrz 2020 · The pH scale shows how acidic or basic a chemical is in aqueous solution (mixed with water). The scale runs from 0 (most acidic) to 14 (most alkaline or basic), where 7 is neutral pH. Chemicals with pH values from 0 up to 7 are acids, those with a pH value of 7 are neutral, and those with pH values greater than 7 up to 14 are bases.
