The 1 7/8" headers outperformed through the entire rpm range and didn't kill any bottom end. The difference on this stock engine wasn't much however, single digit HP and TQ. The 1 7/8" would really start to shine even more on a modifed engine, heads, cam, compression etc...
11 sie 2013 · I was wondering if there is much difference in horsepower/torque between the 2 sizes. I was kind of suprised that many 5.0's seem to run 1 7/8" long tubes, same size as I ran on my 7 liter Z06.
11 gru 2009 · My understanding is that 1-3/4" is best for a basic bolt-on type car, perhaps with a mild cam, and that the 1-7/8" are best for forced-induction/stroked/heavily modded engines. Sound about right? Jake Brodersen, MSgt (Retired), USAF

21 sty 2018 · In hindsight, it might have been a better option to just purchase TSP headers and TSP catted Y considering fitment. You might have a tough time finding people who purchased high flowing headers, a great catback, and retained the stock y pipe. Really defeats the purpose.
10 lis 2008 · Answer: absolutely not. Primary pipes that are too big defeat our quest for the all-important velocity-enhanced scavenging effect. Without knowledge to the contrary, the biggest fear is that the selected tube diameters could be too small, thereby constricting flow and dropping power.
24 sty 2022 · LS engines love air flow but what kind of differences will you see, and feel, if you equip your LS engine with the right headers? And what about shortys? That’s a whole different story. Video Description: HOW MUCH POWER ARE LONG TUBE HEADERS WORTH? WHAT MAKES MORE POWER, 1 3/4 HEADER OR 1 7/8 HEADERS? WHICH HEADER SIZE MAKES THE MOST TORQUE?
