If you already have an extended alert on file and need to add or update the phone number, you can call the number on your credit report to speak to someone in the fraud department. For your protection, you may be asked to send in documentation verifying your identity.
Account service call scams are a type of phone scam in which fraudsters spoof your caller ID to display “account services” or “cardmember services.” If you answer, scammers pose as representatives from credit card companies, collection agencies, banks, or utility providers.

23 cze 2024 · To place a fraud alert, you need to contact one of the three major credit reporting agencies: Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion. These agencies collect information about how you use credit, including debt you may have and whether you’ve filed for bankruptcy.
Contact each creditor with the fraud account and inform them that the account is fraudulent. Make notes of everyone you spoke with; ask for names, department names, phone extensions; record the date you spoke to them. Each creditor may have a different process for handling a fraud claim.
