I got an email from my own iCloud account claiming I’m hacked, how worried should I be? Discussion. This weekend I noticed an email in my junk box claiming I’ve been hacked, phone was infected with Pegasus and need to send money. Immediately changed my Apple password and did the MVT testing.
I finally got the customer service representative to admit that my iCloud account of 10 years (or however old this service is) is basically no longer mine. I filed a police report and gave them the phone's IMEI number, and Verizon has disabled the account.

Someone hacked my AppleID account and changed the Trusted Phone number and the Password. I have been unable to reset it on my own, and the overnight support has not been able to help either. I also can't get account recovery because I don't know what the phone number was that they changed it to.
